i&i is the Community of Practice for business improvement and innovation.
The term Community of Practice refers to a group of people who share common interests and problems and who collaborate over an extended period of time. Communities of Practice are established mechanisms for organisational development. They help organisations to develop social capital, stimulate innovation and spread tacit knowledge in order to drive improvements and new innovations.

Who are the Members?
i&i Members share a common goal: to drive the success of their Business Improvement programmes. They recognise the significant benefits in reducing project timescales and accelerating the learning capability of in-house experts. i&i Members achieve this through collaboration with other organisations and access to shared resources and knowledge.

The online community platform is accessed exclusively by member organisations and is independent of consultants and other service providers. Improvement and Innovation experts and business leaders create trusted associate networks, join Special Interest Groups and exchange knowledge and ideas centred around specific business challenges. Tools for managing meetings, requesting information and problem solving accelerate collaboration and best practice sharing. A repository of high quality content includes a glossary of tools and methods, articles, interviews and Community Network Meeting reports. Peer-to-peer evaluation of products and services and answers to community questions expedite problem solving and intelligence gathering - saving time and investment in resources and accelerating project time scales.
A series of high quality Community Network Meetings and learning sessions are scheduled to support professional face-to-face networking and core competency development. i&i works closely with a trusted network of seasoned professionals and experts in the fields of business improvement and innovation to deliver high quality content and professionally facilitated discussions. Using a proven and unique technique for connecting learners with sharers, i&i facilitates purposeful best practice and knowledge sharing between member companies. ‘Think Tanks’ of collaborative problem solving and project groups from non-competing organisations work to achieve specific outcomes and translate knowledge shared into tangible business benefit.
The i&i Steering Committee consists of regional and global programme leaders from i&i Members. Its purpose is to influence the direction of the i&i domain, and to provide support to the governance of the community’s Code of Conduct. The identification of knowledge-sharing opportunities and prioritisation of focus group meetings is driven by the Steering Committee with ongoing input from the wider community.
i&i has been founded upon the success and progress of the onesixsigma.com project. Established in 2003 as a knowledge resource, onesixsigma.com continues to provide information and independent support for thousands of organisations implementing improvement and innovation programmes globally.
